Synthetic biology raises many questions. Some people are concerned that legislation for its safety and use will not be passed fast enough – or is even possible. Others think that it’s wrong for scientists to create new organisms that can affect nature in ways we cannot predict. And others still are asking who should have ownership of and access to the new technologies. Will citizens benefit – or only big business?
